continuing to explore and expand upon the themes introduced in the collection, “An Ocean in a Bag”, In this body of work, An Ocean in a Bag: N° I have focused on the use of a mono-coloured and brutal theme to create a different visual narrative.
Through the manipulation of texture and form, I have created desaturated images that depict flattened and faded bodies with rough and raw details. These scenes aim to represent a society in
which the value of individuals is defined solely by societal norms and standards. Losing their characteristics, some of the individuals are hardly recognisable. The collection is a unified and harmonious assemblage of solids, which serves only as a shadow or a memory of what once was a thriving and living society.
Through the use of these visual techniques, I tried to provoke thought and spark conversation about the importance of individuality and diversity in our society. By highlighting the dangers of conformity and the loss of self in the face of societal pressures, I hope to encourage viewers to reflect on their own lives and the impact of external forces on their sense of self.
